Senior Studio Art students were given the assignment of researching an artist of their choosing and collecting basic biographical information about him or her. Next, they chose three images of that artist’s work, arrange them on one page of their sketchbook, and in the negative space around the images write the biographical information they collected, making the information part of the page design. On the facing page, the student then copied a section of one of the artist’s works, focusing on the medium and colors used and trying to emulate the artist’s style.
